The Systematic Activities for Scripted Systematic Instruction (SASSI) offer intensive instruction needed to move toward mastery of the Core Content Connectors. The SASSIs provide teaching scripts for teachers who may not have extensive training in systematic instruction.
After teaching the UDL Instructional Units the SASSIs can be used, when appropriate, for individual students. The scripts present instruction in grade bands 3-5, 6-8 and high school and help teachers to build understanding of the target concepts of the Core Content Connectors using real-life word problems and hands-on activities aligned to grade-level content. SASSIs provide data sheets and skills tests. The data sheets can be used for monitoring progress towards mastery and the skill test can be used to practice responding in a testing context.
SASSIs are written for both content areas of the Common Core State Standards: MASSIs, Mathematics Activities for Scripted Systematic Instruction and LASSIs, Language Activities for Scripted Systematic Instruction.
